Session
The session is the governing body of Fourth Presbyterian Church and is comprised of both Ruling Elders (RE) and Teaching Elders (TE). Elders are 'shepherds of the flock' and responsible for the spiritual well-being of the congregation. According to scripture, those selected by a congregation as elders should be blameless in life, sound in the faith, wise in the things of God, and discreet in all things.
The RE are elected by the congregation at the annual meeting and serve a three year term; there are three classes of 8 elders each (making 24 active elders at a time). The TE are our pastors.
