"Holding Forth the Word of Life. . . ." Philippians 2:16 (KJV)
This passage, long the motto of Fourth Presbyterian Church, reflects her doctrinal conservatism. Taken from the words of Paul to the early church in Philippi, the apostle was concerned with the Philippians' own fidelity to the gospel of Jesus Christ. "The Word of Life" refers to both the Gospel and the ethical teachings founded on it. It is the goal of Fourth Church to always remain true to the Gospel.
"Man's chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever" is how the Westminster Shorter Catechism begins.
While diverse in her many activities, worship is the principal function of Fourth Church. Our chief end is to glorify God, and while doing so to hold fast to the true gospel as it is written. We invite you to join us at any of our three
Sunday morning worship services and at our Sunday evening worship service. Service Times
Effective September 12, 2010, the Evening Worship Service will return to the Sanctuary.
